Class valedictorian & ASB President Drew Melton's focus is on the future

LEWISTON, ID - KLEW cares about you and that's why each week during the school year, we team up with Lewiston Orthopaedic Associates to highlight an outstanding local high school student.

Reporter Sophia Miraglio introduces you to Lewiston High School Senior Drew Melton.

This Lewiston High School Bengal has a 4.0 GPA, excels at sports, is active in several school clubs and most importantly is just a great human being. His name is Drew Melton and this week's "Academic All-Star."

"A lot is just time management, I work on the weekends too," said Melton. "So, whenever I can squeeze in the time after practice or going to a friends house just to get help on homework just to get it done."

And that can do....get it done attitude is not just limited to the classroom.

"I'm going to Carol College in Helena Montana and I'll be playing football there as well, I got a scholarship to play there," said Melton.

So what will the ASB president be studying....

"Engineering and then a minor in like business, something along those lines," said Melton.

For now though Drew's just enjoying his last week of school, as he prepares to give his valedictorian speech.

"We were able to prove ourselves in high school that we were able to be successful," said Melton. "But in the real world it's a different story and we have to prove ourselves again. "So that's what the main focus is."

Congratulations Drew, you're this week's "Academic All-Star."
