Hard work and dedication to school work pays off for Smith

CLARKSTON, WA - He's a member of the National Honor Society, has 4.0 GPA and is this year's valedictorian of his 2013 class.

His name is Shaun Smith, a senior at Clarkston High School and this week's Academic All Star."

"It took a lot of work to do so I am very happy that I was able to accomplish this," said Smith.

Striving for the best in all areas of school has been a goal of Shaun's for a long time, but it has not came easy.

"Lots of hard work, lots of dedication to my school work, lots of hours spent studying and doing homework," said Smith.

All those countless hours of studying have paid off.

"After high school I'm going to attend Chaminade University in Honolulu," said Smith.

There he'll be studying criminology, which is always what he wanted to do from a very early age

"My dad's been a police officer ever since I was born, so I've had a good interest in criminal justice," said Smith.

Shaun said he'll miss his family and soon to be Clarkston High School Alums he also says that the move will bring lots of personal growth.

"I thought it would be a great experience for me to leave, go out, and do things on my own," said Smith.
