Karli's competitive spirit has helped reach her dream.

GENESEE, ID - KLEW cares about you and that's why each week during the school year, KLEW news teamed up with Lewiston Orthopedic Associates to highlight an outstanding local high school student.

Thursday was the last day of school for Genesee High School Senior Karli Bennett.

"It's bittersweet because I've been going to this school since I was in preschool," said Bennett.

Karli is getting ready to graduate as salutatorian of her class. Her 3.9 GPA earned her admission to her dream school... she'll go from being a Genesee Bulldog to a Gonzaga Bulldog.

"I wanted to go to Gonzaga ever since I was little, and they are a competitive school to get into," said Bennett. "And so that really motivated me."

Karli's favorite subject is math, but she's not just at the top of her class.

"I'm very competitive and I don't like to lose," said Bennett.

She's also an athlete that played varsity softball, basketball, and her favorite sport... volleyball.

"It's always been my favorite," said Bennett.

Karli also served as the student Council Vice President for two years. She says she's looking forward to her bright future.

"Going to Spokane, it's going to be a little bit of a culture shock, but I'm excited," said Bennett.
