Math is just one of many passions for LHS senior Heather Corey

LEWISTON, ID - Compassion is what motivates Lewiston High School senior Heather Corey.

When Heather isn't found singing, she loves to teach.

"I like working with children because I want to go into elementary education," said Heather. "I work a lot with the Sunday school at Grace Lutheran."

Heather said her passion for teaching started when she was just a little girl.

"On my very first day of preschool, I went to Grace Lutheran preschool, I walked into the classroom and I loved the environment, the teacher, and I just felt like this is where I want to be for the rest of my life," said Heather. "So, that's how I decided to become a teacher and I've never changed my mind."

When Heather isn't found helping others, she's studying.

"I think it's all about organization and keeping up with all of your school work," said Heather.

Heather's been on the honor roll since 2007 and received a national mathematics award for her advanced abilities in math.

"I'm currently taking AP calculus which is a challenge, but I do like to take a challenge," said Heather.
