She's running to serve her fifth term as the congresswoman of Washington's Congressional District 5, which includes Asotin and Whitman counties. McMorris Rodgers says the economy is the greatest issue facing Eastern Washington over the next couple of years.
"Like the rest of the country, it's the economy, it's jobs," said McMorris. "Agriculture is our number one industry in eastern Washington, so making sure our farmers are competitive, productive is at the top of the list."
McMorris Rodgers supports lowering taxes in hopes of creating more jobs. She also believes that passing the Farm Bill will improve the economy. McMorris Rodgers also ranks health care as an important priority, and says she's working to build a medical school in Spokane.
The Congresswoman said she believes that individuals should make their own decisions, instead of the government. McMorris Rodgers faces Democratic challenger Rich Cowan in Tuesday's general election.
