Straight A's propel Lydia Skahan to next level of education

LAPWAI, ID - KLEW cares about you and that's why each week during the school year, we team up with Lewiston Orthopaedic Associates to highlight an outstanding local high school student.

We introduce you to Lapwai High School senior Lydia Skahan.
This Lapwai Wildcat is doing everything she can to make sure that her dreams one day become reality. Her name is Lydia Skahan and she's this week's "Academic All-Star."

"My grandparents really emphasized that they wanted me to become a leader and they wanted me to have good grades," said Lydia. "And so all through elementary, middle school, high school.. I've had straight A's because they've pushed me so hard to do so."

And its that push that will help propel her to the next level.

"Heard back from Stanford so I am a candidate right now, which is a great opportunity and I want to study in natural resources or environmental studies of some sort," said Lydia.

But until then Lydia is not letting up and stays busy through extra curricular and volunteer activities.

"I'm currently the ABS President," said Lydia. "I am part of the Indian Club, FFA organization, Business Professionals of America and then on Tuesdays and Thursdays at the elementary I help in teaching the free ballet classes. "

Congratulations Lydia , You're this week's "Academic All-Star."
