Using flash cards helped Beale with her academic achievements

ASOTIN, WA - She's a member of the National Honor Society, president of the writing club and this years salutatorian for her Asotin High School class of 2013. Her name is Kaylissa Beale and this week's Academic All-Star.

"Our classes were small and so we really become part of a family, that's what I'll miss most is just the connections," said Beale.

Kaylissa is getting ready to graduate as salutatorian of her class. An achievement that didn't come easy.

"I carry my homework with flash cards with me and when I have five minutes in line I pull them out and work on them," said Beale. "And that's something I really worked on this year is just to use every possible minute you can."

Next year Kaylissa will be attending LCSC, where she'll major in biology.

"I want to become an environmental scientist, and fix the problems we created," said Beale.

Her new found love for biology came from high school teacher Mrs. Brady.

"She just opened up the science world, and showed how much you can figure out," said Beale.

When kaylissa isn't trying to figure out how to fix environmental problems in the world, you can find her doing other studious activities.

"I like to read a lot and just write whenever," said Beale.

Kaylissa will graduate this Saturday. Congratulations Kaylissa, for all you've achieved, will achieve, and being this week's Academic All Star.
