Academic All-Star Emma Williams is One Busy Bantam

KLEW cares about you, that’s why every week we feature a local student who is excelling in and out of the classroom. This week’s “Academic All-Star” is Emma Williams a senior from Clarkston High School.

This Clarkston Bantam has quite the resume.

"I'm really involved in our student council, I'm the exec board public relation's officer,” said Williams. “I'm also involved in our National Honors Society, and I'm on varsity golf."

But Emma Williams has one passion that stands above the rest.

"Really involved in our DECA program,” said Williams.

With DECA, Emma has spearheaded projects like Drive 4 UR School. That project earned her and her partner first place at state. They’ll be heading off to nationals in a few short weeks.

"And I also applied to be on their social media team,” said Williams.

Emma’s pretty humble about this part…but she was selected from 100 other applicants to be part of that team. She’ll also have to make a presentation in front of around 20,000 people. Public speaking isn’t her favorite subject, that spot is reserved for math.

"Next year I'll be attending Washington State University and majoring in actuarial sciences,” said Williams.

She has a pretty poetic way of looking at numbers...

"You can either create a prediction or you can tell like the past and future from it…. It can tell a story,” said Williams.

Congratulations Emma Williams, you’re this week’s “Academic All-Star.”
