24 hour weigh station at Steelhead Derby

LEWISTON, ID - It's that time of the year, when steelhead fishing brings people from all walks of life to the Clearwater and Snake Rivers.

The opening ceremony for the Kendall Subaru Clearwater Snake Steelhead Derby starts Friday night at 6 p.m. at Kendall Subaru. For fishermen hoping to catch the biggest steelhead the Valley's ever seen, there'll be more than $10,000 in cash and derby prizes up for grabs. The annual event is a week long tradition, and the derby itself kicks off at midnight Friday night.

"It's back to Thanksgiving week, so you can fish one day, two days, one week, all night," said committee member Brenda Bonfield. "We have a 24 hour weigh station this year."

Committee Member Brenda Bonfield said the week's heaviest fish gets $2,000. The derby costs $30 to enter for adults and $15 for fisherman 17 and under.
