Almost 100 firefighters battled Red Bird fire

ASOTIN, WA - The fire that burned south of Asotin, along Snake River Road has been contained.

According to Blue Mountain Fire District One Chief Chad Sanford, it took 99 firefighters and two helicopters to gain control of the fire on Weissenfels Ridge.

Sanford said nearly 2,500 acres of land were engulfed by the blaze before crews were able to fully contain it Saturday morning. He said the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
