Another Crash at Casino Intersection
LEWISTON, ID —
Another collision at one dangerous Lewiston intersection sent two people to the hospital Thursday morning.
The aftermath of the two-car collision near the Clearwater River Casino left debris strewn for several yards between the two vehicles. The driver of one vehicle, which came to a stop against the guardrail, had to be pulled from his vehicle and placed on a backboard.
Traffic was diverted around the crash as Highway 95 was reduced to one lane on both sides.
From Idaho State Police's initial findings, it appears to be a failure-to-yield case, something they often see in this particular area. ISP Cpl. David Wesche says, "He would've more than likely been here at the stop sign at Nez Perce Road at the intersection with 95, and it looks like he was trying to turn left so he would've been trying to go south and she looked like she was heading north on 95."
Corporal Wesche says they respond to numerous crashes at this intersection and advises everyone to use caution and yield to oncoming traffic
While investigating crash rates at this intersection, KLEW learned of errors in crash location reporting. For more on that story:
