Asotin County building permit fees increase in December

ASOTIN, WA - The Asotin County building and planning department got the go-ahead Monday morning, to raise building permit fees.

The Asotin County Commissioners moved to adopt a resolution presented by Building Official & County Planner Karst Riggers to supplement his department. Riggers said their reserve is dangerously low, so the fee increase is effect starting December first.

"We felt that it was important to get an extra month this year under the new fees as well instead of making them effective at the first of the year," said Riggers.

The permit increases are approximately 42% to 43% more for residential permits and 45% more for commercial building permits. Asotin County fees are currently the lowest in the region, and after the December 1st increase, they'll still be on the low end of the spectrum.
