Asotin County Library hosts sleepover for young readers

CLARKSTON, WA - The Asotin County Library welcomed children of all ages Friday evening for an overnight campout.

Kids piled into the library with more than just their books as they entered the building with sleeping bags, pillows and hopefully toothbrushes as part of the library's summer reading program.

The Moses Lake Knights of Veritas were the highlight of the night, as they demonstrated medieval armor, sword-fighting, and chivalry.

"Usually the adults get to sleep about 4:30 in the morning, so we don't do it every year," said library director Jennifer Ashby. "It's kind of tiring, but it's a lot of fun."

This is the third time the library has opened their doors after hours for kids of all ages to enjoy a night of crafts, games and movies. Ashby said the event encourages children to enhance their relationship with the library.
