Avista Utilities reports that nearly 10,000 customers were in the dark Tuesday night. The outages were mostly caused by high winds and falling trees.
In Moscow, trees all over town took out power poles and lines, leaving over 3,000 residents without electricity. Within three or four hours Avista had mostly restored power.
"One of the really cool things that we're finding is that some of the advanced weather forecasting is really helping us sort of plan and deploy our crews," said Avista Regional Business Manager, Paul Kimmell. "And I think that was the case, at least down here in the Palouse."
Kimmel also said no safety incidents were reported.
