"We pretty much do anything the community asks for," said Batacan.
John spent the last three months working with the Red Cross to organize the school's blood drive.
"We're the eyes and ears for the blood drive people," said Batacan.
John spends a lot of time practicing piano, playing soccer, and running track. But before he plays, he prioritizes.
"I leave the Facebooking and text messaging, I put that away and just focus on school," said Batacan.
He said he excels in math and science classes.
"I have to think about it, but it's not like I have to sit there and stress over it," said Batacan. "It just comes naturally to me, and so I really like that about it."
When John graduates, he plans to attend either the University of Montana, or Pacific University in Oregon.
"I didn't want to be too far away, so the Northwest was good," said Batacan. "And I like the climate and the people."
