Boyer Farms build future garbanzo bean processing plant

LAPWAI, ID - A local farm is trying to keep up as demand in the country skyrockets for a particular food...hummus.

In addition to updating their equipment Boyer Farms has also started building a large processing building. It will be able to process up to 30 million pounds of garbanzo beans. The future processing center will be where workers clean and process dried peas and garbanzo beans.

Knox Concrete poured more than 500 yards of concrete for the facility to be placed on. Buck Boyer said demand for garbanzos is on the rise. The state of Idaho is one of the top producers of pulse crops in the U.S.
