By August new 'no smoking signs' will be posted in Lewiston city parks

LEWISTON, ID - Lewiston Parks and Rec is now one step closer to implementing a voluntary smoke-free policy throughout the Lewiston park system.

Director Tim Barker said 75 'no smoking signs' have arrived from the North Central Idaho Health District. By the beginning of August, all those signs will be placed at parks and ball fields around Lewiston.

"We're asking them to remove themselves from those locations if they wanted to choose to smoke," said Barker. "And whether that tobacco, any sort of tobacco product, even e-cigarettes."

There are two different styles of signs that'll be put up. Barker said because of all the activity at the fields and parks during summer, it's a good time to promote smoke-free facilities.
