City council votes in favor of buying Port of Lewiston land

LEWISTON, ID - The city is moving forward with the purchase of port property for two and a half times the appraised value.

In a five to two vote, the city council accepted the ports counteroffer. The sale of the land does come with rules, such as it can never be used for something like compost.

Both Mayor Pro Tem R-J Johnson and councilor Clinton Daniel opposed the purchase early on, citing that it wouldn't be fair to Lewiston taxpayers to have them buy land they already own.
