When crews arrived, flames were burning about eight feet high.
Sergeant Richard Muszynski from the Clarkston Police Department said fireworks are to blame. He said two teens were playing with a mortar shell firework, which went straight into the grass and ignited almost the entire hill within seconds.
The two teens were found shortly after the 911 call was made. No one was injured in the fire and crews were able to put it out quickly.
Muszynski said the two teens could be charged with unlawful use of fireworks, but that decision is in the hands of the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency.
Firefighters said not only is it illegal to set off fireworks right now, but conditions make it very easy for fires to start and get out of control.
