Clarkston voters decide Feb. 2014 on School District Levy

CLARKSTON, WA - Clarkston School District leaders are asking tax payers to once again pass a levy to help under-funded programs.

Every four years, the school district asks those in Clarkston to approve a Maintenance and Operations Levy. The money funds art and music programs, teacher training and costs for supplies.

The district leaders are hoping to collect approximately $4.8 million a year from the levy tax. That totals to $19 million, the course of the four years it'll be in place.

"If we pass our levy we get an additional $1.5 million from the state to help us so it's a big deal, the levy is," said Clarkston School Dist. Superintendent, Darcy Weisner. "And the dollars we get are all put to use."

The proposed levy rate is estimated at $3.96 on assessed property value for the first year. Voters can make their decision in February.
