Clearwater Paper Corp. closes Georgia plant

LEWISTON, ID - The Clearwater Paper Corporation has decided on a gradual shutdown throughout the next year of it's tissue converting and distribution facility in Thomaston, Georgia.

While the 150 displaced employees from the Thomaston plant have the opportunity to apply at other Clearwater Paper facilities, the Lewiston plant won't be affected in any way, as the employees are being moved to plants in the Southeast region.

According to a press release from the Clearwater Paper Corporation the goal of shutting down the Thomaston plant is to improve the overall logistics of their national manufacturing network. A representative from Clearwater Paper said they would think about commenting on the matter. At this time we haven't heard back.
