Commissioners deny pay raise for Singleton

CLARKSTON, WA - The Asotin County Jail Commander, that took heat for threats he made to the county prosecutor, will not receive a merit based increase in pay.

The Asotin County Commissioners took no action Monday morning, after reviewing a two-year personnel evaluation for Jail Commander Jon Singleton.

"Is there a motion to approve this personal action form?" said Asotin County Commissioner Brian Shinn. "No motion to approve, so there will not be an approval by the board."

Singleton was put on administrative leave last September following threats that were directed at prosecutor Ben Nichols. The jail commander was reinstated to his position early this year after pleading guilty to one harassment charge.
