Community effort returns flag to Anatone Post Office
ANATONE, WA —
An American symbol has returned to the Anatone Post Office.
Early this morning, volunteers helped top this pole with red, white, and blue.
This flag was actually flown on the U.S.S. Scout. Clarkston local and U.S. Navy member Jared Snyder brought it home while he was on leave.
Laurie Van Allen Kerr says everything from the flag to the new light was possible only through the small community coming together to get this project done.
She had noticed the post office flag wasn't flying and posted about it on the Anatone News Facebook page.
Laurie Van Allen Kerr said, "The postmaster here came back on Anatone News and said that the flag rope had broken during the winter, we had a really harsh winter this year. And Spokane...the outlying areas they don't get on to them very quickly and it didn't look like it was going to be a very high priority situation for them."
The solar light was donated by Jody Johnston, the new rope from Schurman's Hardware, and Clearwater Power donated the use of their bucket truck to hoist the flag.
