Community hero attributes award to entire fire department staff
LEWISTON, ID —
Veterans of Foreign Wars honored Battalion Chief David Chenault for his service to our community as a Lewiston firefighter. Chenault was awarded the VFW’s Firefighter of the Year award at the Lewiston City Council meeting.
Chenault said he has many of relatives who served in the Armed Forces, so to receive an award from the VFW means more than anyone knows. He said this award is about more than just him.
“I look at it as everyone in this department got this award, because they are such a great group to work with,” he explained. “I’m honored that I get to receive it and hold it, but it’s more important that everyone in our department are outstanding and they all get this award with me.”
Chenault said he worked hard this year in helping Lewiston Fire Department buy a new ambulance, as well as spending hours on and off the clock working to help the department.
