Current staff members will fill two vacant positions at Asotin Co. Sheriff's Office

ASOTIN, WA - The Asotin County Sheriff's Office is losing two staff members by the month's end.

Sheriff Ken Bancroft said he's in the process of replacing the chief civil deputy and the jail commander. Bancroft said those positions are being filled by current staff members.

"I have a person I've been grooming to take over Chief Civil Deputy Lori Leavitt," said Bancroft. "She's a sergeant at the jail and she's indicated a willingness that she wants to come over and take that position."

The replacement for the jail commander position is still under review. The current commander, Captain Jon Singleton, was put on paid leave last year after being accused of threatening to kill the Asotin County prosecutor. He plead guilty to a harassment charge and was reinstated. Sheriff Bancroft said the incident didn't play a role in Singleton leaving.
