Donaldson takes the reins as Interim Superintendent

LEWISTON, ID - The Lewiston School Board has promoted Assistant Superintendent Bob Donaldson to the position of interim superintendent until a permanent candidate is chosen.

After an unsuccessful attempt by a recruiting firm to find a qualified successor for current superintendent, Dr. Joy Rapp, the board voted on Monday night to have Donaldson take the reins for the 2013-2014 school year starting in July. Donaldson said he feels prepared to take on the interim role due to his many years of experience with the school district.

"I've enjoyed every job I've had in this district, I've been here for awhile," said Donaldson. "At the building level, as principal, at the junior high and the high school, assistant superintendent and so I'm looking forward to it."

Donaldson said the interim position should give him a good idea of what the permanent job entails. As far as how the position may encourage him to file for candidacy for the permanent role, Donaldson said he's taking it one day at a time. The search for the permanent position will resume in the Fall.
