Drain the Vein is a Halloween campaign, and the local blood center needs a larger blood supply in the area. Participants will not only help to save three lives per donation, but they'll also get a free "Starve a Vampire" T-shirt. However Marketing and Communication Officer Elizabeth Giles said it's not all about the Halloween season. Hurricane Sandy, which has also been dubbed 'frankenstorm,' is on the forefront of many donors' minds.
"At this time we haven't had any requests for assistance yet for the East Coast but depending on how things go in the next few days that could change," said Giles. "The best way we can help is to have a strong local blood supply first."
The Inland Northwest Blood Center located in Lewiston, is taking 'Drain the Vein' donations until Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
