Ernie Kent named WSU men's basketball coach.

PULLMAN, WA - Well it certainly didn't take long, but Cougar basketball has a new man in charge.

Former Oregon Head Coach Ernie Kent has been named the Washington State men's basketball coach. Kent has close ties to WSU Athletic Director Bill Moos, who hired Kent at Oregon in 1997 and Monday in Pullman.

Before head coaching at Oregon from 1997-2010, he played the same role at Saint Mary's from 1991-97, and has an overall record of 325-254 in his career. Moos sees a coach with winning ways, saying-quote "He managed to win an outright PAC-10 championship and two tournament championships, go to two elite eights and five trips to the NCAA tournament."

Over the past four years, Kent has been a commentator with the PAC-12 network.
