Facebook page shows support for WSU professor assault victim

PULLMAN, WA - A Washington State University professor's life still hangs in the balance following an assault over the weekend.

Pullman Police continue their investigation to find the people who assaulted Doctor David Warner of Pullman.

On the WSU campus, students and faculty are showing their support for Warner by making cards and planning a candlelight vigil for him on Saturday night. The "Rally for David Warner" Facebook page has more than 1,500 members, and it's filled with posts of support and updates on Warner's condition.

"We're trying to come together to be that support because he's someone that always has our back," said WSU Associate Professor David Leonard.

Warner is still in critical condition at Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane with serious brain injuries. Pullman Police are attempting to identify four suspects involved in the assault. Three are white college-aged men, ranging in height from five-foot-ten to six-feet tall. The fourth is a college-age woman.

Anyone who may have witnessed the assault is asked to call the Pullman Police Department at (509) 334-0802.
