The Asotin County Fire Department is taking every precaution necessary in case of an emergency. KLEW News got the opportunity to ride along with fire crews as they patrolled the area.
"We try to take a proactive approach to firefighting on the Fourth of July," said Asotin County Fire District Number One Chief Noel Hardin. "We know there's a lot of potential out there, we d have a dry season going on right now, so we want to make sure that we're out in the field and not just hanging around the station waiting for something to happen."
Both the city of Clarkston and Asotin fire departments are geared up in nearly twenty brush trucks and fire engines. Each fire crew has been assigned a certain area to patrol to ensure there will be someone close by if a fire starts.
