Fire fighters contain Asotin County blaze

CLARKSTON, WA - A wildfire southwest of Clarkston damaged an estimated 50 to 60 acres of land along Peola Road and Mail-Route Road on Thursday evening.

Chief Noel Hardin of Asotin County Fire District Number One said the fire took crews from his department as well as from the city of Asotin an hour-and-a-half to put out, and they have yet to pin-point a cause for the blaze.

"We did check on it today and things are looking pretty good up there so we're pretty well sealed up and contained in that area," said Hardin.

Hardin said that the fire damaged Conservation Reserve Program land, some hillside, and privately owned crops.
