In September KLEW News was at Kamiah High School as students walked out of class in support of their principal, Veneice Guillory-Lacy.
Soon after being placed on administrative leave, Lacy was fired from her first year as principal. Lacy, whose of Native American and African American decent, states in the claim she was wrongfully terminated and cites damages totaling $500,000.
The tort claim is the first step in order to see if a settlement can be reached outside of court. The next step would be a lawsuit.
Kamiah School District Superintendent, Fred Mercer said he cannot comment on personnel issues and wasn't able to give us a comment on this matter.
