Gritman Jr. Volunteers collect school supplies for kids who can't afford them

MOSCOW, ID - The first day of school is only a week or two away. Every kid needs school supplies, but not all of them can afford it, especially in the rural areas of the Palouse.

That's why Gritman Junior Volunteers host their 'Back to School Drive' every year. This will be the 22nd year Gritman has sponsored the drive in Moscow and they're asking for your donations!

All you have to do is go to Gritman, grab a tag and return it with the list of school supplies. Or, you can just drop school supplies off at the south entrance or radiology lobbies. You might not think school supplies are a big deal, but to a kid that can't afford them, they may be everything.

"Seeing that backpack, and it might have mickey mouse on it or it might have a ninja turtle on it and watching their eyes light up," said Director of Volunteer Services at Gritman, Debi Dockins. "They tear into them, it's like Christmas. Even though it's just school supplies, they're so excited to have the same thing that everybody else has when they start school so they're no different from anyone else."

The drive will continue through the 22nd. For more information on what specific items are needed or how to help, visit our website.
