Grocery store tours will focus on healthy and inexpensive foods

MOSCOW, ID - Starting Wednesday, University of Idaho students will host a series of tours of Moscow grocery stores to help people shop for healthy food without breaking the bank.

The hour-long tours are free and open to anyone interested in learning how to choose nutritious foods on a budget. Each tour will focus on a different topic, such as unit prices or reading food labels.

"There is a misconception out there that healthy food is expensive," said Gritman Medical Center Registered Dietitian Mary Skoglund. "And if you know how to buy the right food and prepare it, it's much cheaper to actually buy healthy, nutritious food."

A dietitian from Gritman Medical Center will also be there to answer any tough nutrition questions. The first tours will be on Wednesday at 2:00 and 3:00 in the afternoon at the Moscow Walmart.
