High-speed pursuit ends in arrest

PECK, ID - A stolen vehicle from Peck Idaho, led officers on a high-speed pursuit that eventually ended in Lewiston.

Twenty-five-year-old Jeffrey McKeever of Peck was arrested without incident, and taken to the Nez Perce County Jail.

Nez Perce County Sergeant, Lucas Martin, said that the high-speed pursuit began when he was headed to the scene of a vehicle theft in Peck, when he saw the reported vehicle at the intersection of Highway 12 and Highway 95. Martin said that before he could even turn on his emergency lights to pull the red Chevrolet Cavalier over, McKeever suddenly took off.

"A short pursuit until the city limits of Lewiston where we discontinued the pursuit due to public safety," said Martin. "Lewiston Police Department picked up the vehicle once it entered Lewiston at a slower speed near 18th and Main, the vehicle finally yielded and stopped."

A misdemeanor warrant was issued for McKeevers' arrest prior to this incident.
