High winds bring smoke to the region

LEWISTON, ID - Areas of the L.C. Valley and Palouse are currently experiencing higher concentrations of smoke as of Wednesday afternoon.

Idaho DEQ Air Quality Manager Amber Rand said that while winds blowing north to northeast have brought wildfire smoke into the area, the air quality is still in the good range despite what it looks like. She said the smoke could also be the result of crop burning, so as of 2 o'clock the DEQ and the Nez Perce Tribe ordered a shut down for Wednesday on all burning. The winds will most likely continue through Thursday, so depending on wildfire activity there could still be smoke in the region.
