Idaho truck driver dead in Oregon Coast crash

SEAL ROCK, Ore. - An Idaho man died in a commercial truck crash that blocked Highway 101 Thursday near Seal Rock, about 4 miles north of Waldport.

State police said Drews Elliot, 28, of Orofino, Idaho, was driving southbound when his truck drifted off the roadway and hit an embankment before overturning in the highway at around 11:20 a.m. Thursday.

The crash killed Elliot. Investigators are looking into what caused him to drive off the highway.

The crash blocked all traffic on the highway for over two hours. By 1:30 p.m., transportation workers had one lane of Hwy 101 open through the crash scene. Both lanes were reported open at just before 5 p.m. Thursday.

Investigators said that the driver was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
