Jury trial date set for man accused of raping woman in assisted living facility

CLARKSTON, WA - The trial date has been set for a man accused of raping an elderly woman at The Sycamore Glen Assisted Living Facility.

Luis Avila, 38, allegedly raped a 72-year-old woman last year while he was working as a night care employee at the facility. Avila is accused of raping the woman when she was incapable of consent.

He pleaded not guilty to one count of second degree rape and is scheduled to appear for a jury trial in Asotin County Superior Court, beginning October 9th.

According to Defense Attorney Jane Richards, the trial could take up to four days. A pre-trial has been set for September 29th.
