Last Minute Ralliers on Election Day
LEWISTON, ID —
Less than three hours to go before election polls close tonight for several of our region’s schools. One issue, the special election to authorize a bond to build a new high school in the Lewiston School District.
We found last minute ralliers in support of a new school on 21st Street by Wendy’s. However, we searched around the city but couldn’t find anyone out for the opposition.
The principal bond amount is $59.8 million to be paid back over 20 years. The bond pays for expenses including construction, furnishing, and equipment of the main building and career technical center.
According to Nez Perce County Clerk Patty Weeks, 3,041 voters, or 17-percent have cast their ballots by absentee.
Weeks says voter turnout around 2:00 this afternoon was 40-percent but she’s expecting a rush when people get off from work. Polls close at 8:00p.m. tonight.
