The task of setting the budget proved challenging for the commissioners due to the fact that they have been working with less money in years past, however this year they saw an increase.
"Our revenues were less too, with new money and new construction," said County Commissioner Tom Stroschein. "So it's been a real challenge I think on all our parts."
The 2013 budget is less than 1% higher than the 2012 budget. It includes a 3.5 increase in the property tax levy rate, a $100 per month pay increase for full time employees and elected officials, and funding for new vehicles for the sheriff. The new budget will go into effect on October 1st of this year.
