"Latte and Learn" raises awareness for Sexual Assault Awareness month

LEWISTON, ID - If you bought an espresso drink in Lewiston Monday, you might have noticed a sexual assault awareness sticker on your cup.

April is National Sexual Assault Awareness month and in an effort to prevent and change attitudes toward sexual assaults, the YWCA has teamed up with local coffee shops for the annual event "Latte and Learn." Baristas are placing stickers with shocking statistics on cups as you get your daily dose of caffeine.

"Lattes are one way, because we know people go there every day and something that can get the information out, and something that is interesting and fun, and it taste good," said YWCA advocate Shelly Meisner.

Stickers will continue to be placed on cups all week long at several different local coffee shops. The YWCA has several more events planned for this month, including "Denim Day" on April 25th, in which everyone is encouraged to wear denim.
