LCSC work with Boise lawmakers for more funding and grants

LEWISTON, ID - It's Higher Education Week and administrators from all over the state are working with lawmakers in Boise to be a voice for local students.

Lewis-Clark State College President Tony Fernandez said that legislators have been receptive to their requests for grants and funding. But whether or not the budget can accommodate more money for schools is yet to be determined by the legislature.

"We have to wait and just see what the legislature recommends when they finish their deliberations on budgets for higher education," said Fernandez. "At that time we will make a decision whether we will ask for a tuition increase, if any."

The legislators and administrators are meeting the entire week in Boise. Governor Butch Otter declared Wednesday, the 23rd of January as University of Idaho Day.
