The URA is considering creating a roadway that would extend from Nez Perce Drive to Gun Club Road. Currently the agency is looking into the feasibility of the project and whether or not it's practical to build the road before any commitments are made with large retail establishments.
"The URA is meant to try and create jobs," said URA Board Member Bob Tippett. "If we had the opportunity or the big box (retailer) then we would be doing what the URA was set up to do."
Tippett said the question is not whether the extension will happen, but rather when it will happen and who will fund it. City planners have been discussing the mile long extension for a number of years, which would cost an estimated $3.2 million.
