As of late Thursday, six new wildfires have been reported on the Wallowa-Whitman National Forest. However the storm wasn't all bad, as rain was able to assist in one of the largest fires in the area, the China Cap fire, which is listed at 190-acres.
"The fire activity has gone down, we actually did get a lot of rain on the east side of that fire yesterday," said Darcy Weseman. "So it's helped us out and there's less fire activity."
Local resources were able to contain each of the six fires Thursday night while eight smoke-jumpers and heavy helicopters remain on the China Cap fire right now.
