Local fuel stations raise prices

LEWISTON - Local motorists are likely feeling an even bigger pinch at the pump with area fuel stations raising prices Wednesday evening.

Tensions with Iran in the Persian Gulf along with a recent oil refinery fire in Blaine, Washington are driving the prices higher.

Canywhere from 10 to 15 cents. The head of an association of independent gasoline dealers in Washington state says the longer the BP refinery is out of service because of fire damage, the higher prices at the pump will go for drivers in the region. Tim Hamilton of the Automotive United Trades Organization said Wednesday that wholesale prices to dealers went up about 20 cents a gallon Tuesday. He said that will push prices in Washington close to four dollars a gallon.
