Anyone was welcome to go to the Mountain Dew Skate Park at 5 o'clock where the walk began, and volunteer Tom Kurdy encouraged everyone to wear their Livestrong Yellow.
"It is now worldwide on October 2nd Livestrong Cancer Support Day," said Kurdy. "And it's to support the people who have cancer, the survivors."
The national foundation asked supporters and survivors to tweet and Facebook about the event Tuesday. For each post, sponsors and donors, pledged to donate $1 to the Lance Armstrong Foundation up to $100,000. The goal was surpassed early Tuesday afternoon.
