Lost Lewiston hunter rescued near Bovill in rural Latah County

BOVILL,ID - A 68-year-old Lewiston man is safe Monday night after being rescued early Monday morning from the deep woods of Latah County after getting lost on a hunting trip.

According to the Latah County Sheriff's Lieutenant Brannon Jordan, search and rescue crews were called to the campsite Bovill around 8:00 Sunday night. They found Lewiston resident Donald Cochran around 10:00.

Jordan said a Medstar helicopter using a thermal camera helped find a fire that Cochran had started. Jordan said it took rescuers a couple hours to walk Cochran to safety because he was deep in the woods and he had back pain. Cochran was treated on scene and refused ambulance transport.
