LPD doubles patrols for Hot August Nights

LEWISTON, ID - Car enthusiasts aren't the only ones getting ready as the Lewiston Police Department also prepared for one of the busiest weekends of the year.

LPD will more than double their patrols in preparation for the influx of people downtown. Deputy Chief Roger Lanier said all 18 officers will be spread out within the city to not only ensure event goers safety but all citizens of Lewiston.

"We'll have three motor officers out, we will have four bicycle officers out," said Lanier. "We will have our regular officer patrolling the city and we will concentrate on the area's that the people are. The people have been very good on behaving themselves the last few years and we're hoping that trend continues."

The extra patrols will run through the weekend.
