LPD maintains accreditation with Idaho Chiefs of Police Association

LEWISTON, ID - The Lewiston Police Department is going above and beyond to be one of the best departments in Idaho.

LPD is now accredited by the Idaho Chiefs of Police Association. There are 94 standards of performance that an agency has to meet or exceed, which is why only 20% of all 88 police departments in Idaho are actually accredited.

Even though it's not a requirement, LPD Chief Steve Orr feels it's important.

"It's another indication of the commitment of the organization to professionalism, to ethical leadership, and a commitment to prove the most efficient and effective delivery of law enforcement services to our community," said Chief Orr.

LPD was first accredited by the association in 2005. Back then, the lengthy process was done every five years, but now it's every three.
