With the recent retirement of Captain Greene, Chief Orr decided to switch some things around. He wanted to increase efficiency and cost effectiveness. Instead of two captain positions there is now one deputy chief position, which was appointed to Roger Lanier. A records specialist position was also added.
"We had made that collateral duties of the communications specialist, but what that actually does is it takes them away from their normal duties as a dispatcher," said Chief Orr. "So we felt that it provided better officer safety and customer service to have to have that position filled and certainly more consistency in our records management."
The job duties of record specialist include handling public record requests, filing records and maintaining custody records.
